Shorty 5 - hardly moved for the goal. Corley looks the better option
Mac 3 - shouldn't be anywhere near the team in my view. Does not possess a football brain
Foley 4 - often starts slowly. Would have swapped him with White if I were Geezer. Taking him off must be hugely damaging to his morale
Bolton 4 - in common with the rest of the full back line was yards off the pace
Rainbow 6 - along with Flanagan tried to keep the defence together and also did his best to fulfil the Conway playmaker role from wing back. Seriously though, he cannot be an option for the summer, can he ???
Flanagan 6 - tried hard, when all around him were at sea. Did as good a job on Martin Clarke as many will do. Clarke did not particularly impress me
Chalky 5 - started well but the "he-man" act is getting tired at this stage. I would play him in forwards dropping deep or midfield assuming he can learn to be more disciplined
Flynn 7 - best player for me, before the usual red-mist descended. Covered acres of ground and did his best to rise to the mantle when Dermot had a rare off-day
Earley 6 - worst game for a while but that's down to his own high standards. Mind may have been elsewhere. Seemed very frustrated with the performance of the team.
Whyte 4 - don't see his worth to the team, at least not yet. Is he a forward at all ? Doesn't carry any threat to a defence from what I have seen
O'Neill 5 - overweight, unfit, lacks confidence. Seems to try hard, but is a way off the pace to me
Kelly 7 - a real find over the last year. Takes a great score and gives great commitment. Faded in the second half but may have been carrying injury from just before half time. Need to find the right role for him in the team. At this stage he is a strong candidate for half forward line
Ennis 6 - bright start. Intelligent player but seems relatively slow. Good man to take a score though and we need natural forwards. Felt he faded a LOT when brought out the field in the second half
Sweeney 3 - plays well once per 5 games at best. Hard to justify his inclusion at the moment
Kavanagh 5 - ok in the first half. Ran up blind alleys when he got possession second half, like many of his colleagues. Perhaps unfair to sub him but he is presumably only regaining fitness. Still one of our class forward acts and hopefully will get fully fit soon

Very good summary, Crofter, and I agree with most of the points you make. I thought we kicked an aweful lot of aimless ball on Sunday and as far as I can recall most of their scores came from ball that we miskicked and ended up in their hands. Also our lads didn't work hard or intelligently enough when Down had the ball. This was obvious from the amount of space and options the Down players had when on the ball compared with our lads.
