PostSubject: Championship and Player Availablility   Thu May 16, 2013 1:02 am

2 topics that have really annoyed me so far this year. Firstly, underage county managers stopping players playing with their clubs. The U/16 manager seemed to think he was Kieran McGeeney at one stage. U/16s being told not to play with their senior teams etc. The cb meetings made it very clear that there was no such precedent and no such rule. So what gave John Dunne the right to dictate to club players??

Also, why have the championship fixtures not been set out yet??

A month to go until championship starts and still NO FIXTURES have been sent to the clubs? An absolute disgrace.

Why have the cb not sent these to all clubs??????

Were the draws done at a CB Meeting, in May  ??

Will the first games drawn be the first to be played ?

In May? The championship gradings were out together in Jan. why are they only being released to clubs 3 weeks b4 they start?

It's no wonder our game has fallen behind camogie. Rediculous

There is a change in the Junior B championship as apparently it was decided at the Feb County Board meeting to have five rounds. The dates for round 4 and 5 are 31st Aug and 7th Sept.  The semi final will be 14th Sept and the final will be 21st.

Hopefully this helps. Your County board delegate should have taken down the details as they were drawn at the May meeting.
I am not connected to the County executive in any way.

I agree that the details are slow in coming out. The fixtures secretary is doing both juvenile and senior, in previous years there were separate juvenile and adult fixture secretaries.
The executive could not get anyone to do juvenile fixtures, so that is possibly the reason why the details are slow to be released.

Also, the Minor Championship commences on 13th Oct. The semi-final of the Minor is on 17th November with the final scheduled for 24th Nov. The executive gave the clubs the choice of playing the minor in the summer or in the winter and the majority voted for the winter.

Our delegate only received the fixtures in the last couple of days. To blame workload or anything else, is just an excuse. This cb have not been fair to clubs. Championship fixtures are normally out in Jan/Feb. This allows club players to plan their holidays. In this day & age, young people like to travel, and why not.  J1 visa's are very popular.

No lies being told here at all kelf. The real truth is that the cb are only interested in the county teams. County training is allowed to interfere with club training. Underage county managers allowed to dictate to club ayers, when they can or can't play for their clubs. Lets watch and see how the fixtures play out if Kildare seniors manage to win a game in the championship this year.

It's not right. Decisions being made behind closed doors then sneakily pushed through at cb meetings. It seems the cb are picking up a lot of government traits

When you say the county board is not being fair to the clubs you've got to remember that the county board is made up of the clubs and the executive.

As far as I am aware provisional dates for the championships were released early in the year in the fixtures planner, I've got a copy in an email.
The actual draw for the junior championships was made at the May meeting, we had the full details of the dates and who we were playing available to our players and manager the following day. The May meeting was on Thursday 30th May, the first round of the Junior A Championship is on 27th July that's two full months to get ready.

I also have an email regarding the championship launch as follows;
"Dear Clubs,

On Wednesday 26th June at 7pm in Hawkfield the County Championship Launch will take place. We would like to ask all clubs to attend on the night with their various team captains, and to bring along their club jersey. If the team captain cannot attend, could a representative from the team attend in their place.

Reporters and Photographers from various media outlets will be in attendance on the night.

Looking forward to seeing you all there,

Kind Regards"

I think there are a number of issues here;
1.Internal communications between the clubs and county executive regarding player availability,
2.Non-attendance of clubs at county board meetings which means that they don't have a clue what's happening and their opinion is never taken on board.
3. External communications, so that everyone else knows.

Before you give out about someone and they job they are doing you should ask yourself "would I be prepared to do the job". If the answer is no, then it's best to stay quiet. If the answer is yes, then you should make yourself known to the executive. I know that I would not be prepared to put in the hours and get the hassle that a fixtures secretary gets, therefore I would be very reluctant to criticise her or any other member of the executive.

That's not to say that every decision they make is correct, there have been some massive blunders this year with regard to transfers etc. But you must remember that these blunders were made by the county board, including all club delegates, not just the executive.

Re sneaky decisions, again it's up to the club delegate, if the are not there they can't question a decision, If they are there they need to speak up.
I know the issue you are referring to regarding County managers dictating, however it was not raised by the delegates on the night of the county board meeting, which is where it should have been brought up.

It's simple really.

St Kevins Rathcoffey have withdrawn from Junior c and Balyna (or Cappagh) from junior b. Junior b will now be over seven rounds starting on 3rd August.

Sad to see teams having to withdraw from championship. Lack of planning and poor fixtures have had an impact on all clubs.

Now that the county team is done. The important business can start. Beat of luck to all the decent hard working clubs out there. Poachers & cheats - here's hoping karma catches up quick.

Not sure whether Balyna2/Cappagh are in the junior B, heard there was an appeal to the Leinster Council this week. Suncroft have also withdrawn from Junior A.
Can't see how planning or poor fixtures could be improved, there were two fixtures meetings this year, the only way that there could be more slots would be to rearrange the intercounty calendar. I do agree that starting the championship in July and August is difficult for a lot of the smaller clubs.

Planning fixtures on a bank holiday weekend is rediculous. Planning them on a weekend that sees one of Eurpopes largest music festivals in this very county is just brain dead.
Plus, fixtures were way later than other years. Some clubs only got their fixtures a couple of months before the games are due to be played. By that time, players had already left for wherever or whatever they were doing and had no reason to plan a return.

Fixtures every other year are out in January, around the same time as the league fixtures. LEts watch ans see how many clubs actually play this weekend....

As predicted - few if any fixtures were played on the fixed dates. More of the same this week?

Isn't there provision though to change the dates? They're really just a guide. Doesn't it say in the rules that you can change the date if the teams agree? As happened in the leagues and indeed, as happens in the GAA leagues?

Indeded Ogie there is, ye get a lot of people on here stirring for the sake of it, overthebar in case you are not aware in ladies football county boards cannot under official rule give set fixtures, they give dates so that if the game is not played within a seven day period they have a default date to revert too. The official rule states that clubs must contact each other to confirm the game is going/not going ahead on the date proposed, if its not another date must agreed within seven days of the default date. Its very messy for a fixture secretary, but until clubs vote to change this it will remain the same

Example of this rule: Balyna v Leixlip listed for 17/8

Refixed by agreement & played on 15/8.

Only problem I had was I was away for both these dates & so missed it.

Heard Savo missed it due to Red Card v Clare.

Why she get a month ?? Last similar (& a lot more serious) episode was Aine Gilmore on Janice in Tuam and she only got 2 weeks !!!!!! Double standards once again.
