I see minors both county and club are starting up this weekend.seems to be a strange format for the league's this year as they're split in two in division 1 and 3

They are allowed because it's not a major competition - it's a tournament. Dubs have had no team in it in the past and have only had U17 teams in it in other years. It's training. I'm sure if Kildare wanted to put two teams in it too, they could.

We'd never be able to afford two teams!

Dublin beat Kildare in the Final in 2013, and it wasnt their u17 Team.

I think, and you know, that what I wrote still holds true notwithstanding

Didn't know that Seamus - to be fair, I'm not sure that's right. It is giving them more competitive trials - an opportunity to look at more players. But then they have them to look at. Still, you shouldn't be just making it easier for the one crowd all the time.

Just wondering, motion 51 was passed at congress recently. Does this come into immediate affect? Or when these rules are passed, is there a time period for when they are used?

Motion 51: Proposes that a player on an inter-county minor panel shall not play in adult club league competitions/challenge games until his inter-county activity for the year is concluded.

this is a hot topic every year but even more so this year with rumours of a player being droped off the squad for training with his club.

The county minors only make up a small fraction of minor players and usually play/train on a sat there by usually unavailable for their club anyway. The barring of u/17's from playing adult football will affect clubs in a bigger way

I heard an interesting rumour that Brendan Hackett may be on his way out, over an incident over an injured player.
