Lads, so dissapointing.  This has been our problem for years at minor and u-21.  We can win Leinster with a swagger but then look very ordinary at the all-Ireland semifinal stage.  To win leinster you have to be a good team because the dubs have to be beat along the way. So what happens to us - is it the weight of expectation on the players?

Today was so similar to previous bad days.  Like the u-21s in 2013, you could sense they were going to lose after the first five minutes with the other team playing all the football.

When dublin win leinster at minor or u21 they tend to go all the way and win the all-Ireland.  We don't and today was another false dawn as this team had a solid look about it before today.

Of course Ogie the players did'nt play well but as said it was hardly a brilliant tipp team, Kildare played right into their hands and if that's not because of the preparation, tactics etc. then it had nothing to do with the management team. It's ok to ask why, it's a football forum.

Agree.

Nothing wrong with those players, they had all the talent, they just were not directed properly from the sideline.

No need to go for goals from the start, take your scores. Pumping the ball into the full forward was never going to work.

These lads were better than Tipperary, they just did'nt show it.

Watching the match yesterday from the Upper Cusack was interesting. Kildare outplayed in midfield; Forwards outmuscled; Tipp players much bigger and hardier (and more experienced I think) and our shooting was poor - not a great day on any front. But it was great to be in Croke Park in late August supporting Kildare - well done to all involved on getting this far. Onward and upward. Up the Lilies!

the best team on the day won and we can have no great complaints. That said they stuck at it all the way and never gave up just like in earlier matches and could have sneaked a win. Kildare have never won more than two leinster titles in a decade, seven in total so hopefully that can be bettered this decade.
Interesting to hear the Tipp coach saying that they never turned up in the Munster final and yet now they're in an all Ireland final. These games are won and lost on tight margins and we did have those chances yesterday.
Anyway thanks to all involved for a good even if ultimately slightly disappointing season. It's not often enough that we get to see a Kildare win Leinster. Onwards and upwards

On a positive note we should have a really good U21 team for next year. We have to keep the momentum up at underage and hopefully they will come through at senior eventually.

Probably the worst I have felt after a Kildare game in years. The lack of urgency in the team was staggering. Warm-up was half-hearted and one player was practicing keepy-uppys and head tennis 5 minutes before throw-in. Steeped to be level at half-time and still no great urgency. Would have been daylight robbery to win and yet we still could have won with that goal chance.

Thought Darren Lawlor and Courtney at midfield showed the required level of passion and football. Healy (shouldn't have been taken off), Burke, Campbell and Ethan had their moments but our "big names" were poor with one in particular showing an appalling lack of effort. Credit to Tipp, their 2 corner-backs were fantastic and they made their size count down the middle. Having Stephen Quirke back from injury made a big difference to them. Good luck to them in the final.

Its not a vintage year for minor football. Donegal were really good but had an off-day against Derry and were out. Cork should really have beaten Kerry. Kerry not up to last year's standard and even Jack O'Connor seems surprised they're in a final. There was an all-Ireland there for the taking as there was for the under 21s in 2013 and it was blown. Can talk about potential all day long but at some stage we need to win big games. Hackett not blameless but just because they are minors, the players should not be allowed to hide behind him and be exempt for criticism.

Can't be saying things like this even if it's true, people get upset and take it "personally" when the obvious is pointed out to them.
We're Kildare, the only criticism allowed is that of a manager from outside the county.
Why don't we look at ourselves and fix the small things?
A reality check badly needed.
Frustrating to watch for a 3rd year in a row, failing at this stage, with no change in attitude or approach by the players.
These habits and and outlook persist through U21 and senior
Cue the chorus of training in the rain and snow in January, etc.

You are the muppet for a comment like that, who are you calling muppets?

I can live with the above comments and indeed agree with most of them however to address all the players involved ( all aged 18 years or under as ' muppets ' ) is too much.

Good Post Shergar, sums it up well.

Some of the Substitutions baffled Me, especially the One with a Minute left and we losing ?

Gas thing is if Shea Ryan had shifted the Ball right Jimmy had a tap inand we would have stolen

Would add that 3 Points from Play in 60 Mins was a very poor return, but I suppose credit to the Tipp Defence here.

Anyone see the clip where the Kildare sub connects with a right hook on the Tipp midfielder.
Apparently he was still recovering as he got the MOTM award.

While I don't agree with violence in sport, if he got 'hit' after the game it was about 60 minutes too late. Shocked Shocked Shocked

Crazy action by the Tipp lad........... Was he the lad who punched the KE player in the first half ???

We didn't see what started it but Kennedy did come charging into what seemed like just handbags. It was a very aggressive approach and he got destroyed. He did well to stay up but was very shook up after. Got himself sorted in time for his interview. He absolutely dominated during the hour though and especially the second half.

Yeah it looks like the Tipp lad ran a mile to get involved in an innocuous schmozzle which escalated the incident. He then got a solid right hook for his troubles.

Crazy because A) they won the game and he risked being banned from the minor All Ireland final and B) he's one of their best players so without him they'd be even more screwed.

Think that was common knowledge Seamus, 3 of the starting 15 on sunday are underage next year and another 4 or 5 from the full panel of 32 are also available next year. Also there was 6 or 7 lads brought in for games over the last few months who can play minor in 2016.

Thanks OTB..

I know it can be hard to gauge, and maybe its just Me, but this Years Team looked far less Physical than the 2013 Team (who I know did a lot of s & c work over 2 Years).. Was there less emphasis on it this Term ?.

Didn't think much of Tipp in the semi final and their mauling by Kerry today didn't surprise me. We really left an All Ireland Final appearance behind us this year with such a flat performance. Do to think we'd have lived with Kerry either though.
