Maguire at full back, couldn't make the minor panel last year!

It's so disappointing that we can't get our best players on the pitch at any level, or so it seems.

I know we can't go on about the three lads abroad forever but I dream of a Kildare GAA set-up where we can give lads reason to stay, like Dublin do. Imagine how much more confident you'd be about this game with Brophy at centre- or full-forward.

And even after that, I've been looking forward to seeing Chris Healy develop into a senior inter-county player... now he's not even starting for the 21s. What is the story? Is he injured or out of form or what?

Forget the odds, I would call our chances in this game at about 50-50.

Is Shane O'Hagan injured surely he should be in the full back line somewhere?

not going to comment on maguires selection but im certain his was on the minor panel for the last two years, only a series of injuries kept him from playing a big part last year

Shane O'Hagan is easily the most over rated player I've seen in along time

We're playing a Match Tonight Folks, and who ever takes the Field should be supported.. Lets not get into criticising Young Fellas.

O2B, Its an odd One on Healy.. Im fairly sure He isnt injured.. My reading of it is, He lost out in the Full Forward line for tactical reasons.. ie Dec O Flaherty is more of a Target Man, if as is to be expected, Offaly play very Defensive, and both Neil Flynn and McMonigle are more of a Scoring / Goal Scoring threat than Healy, however He should be on the Half Forward line imo.

Best of luck to the Lads and Management.. We need a Win badly.

The forwards must be going well if Chris Healy can't get on!

Best of luck to all involved tonight.

As I said earlier, this is going to be a really tough game, so I hope our boys are mentally tuned in and ready to fight to the last.

A win tonight would really give Kildare football a lift after a demoralising month.

It's a good team, hope they show what they're capable of. Best of luck lads, Cill Dara abu.

Kildare 1-8 to 0-4 at half time. Niall Kelly has 4 points so far. Great goal by Sherry. Offaly have the wind in the 2nd half and have cut us open a couple of times so it's not over yet.

I think a more pressing issue in Kildare than football is country music. I like to think I'm open minded but who listens to this tripe (for those listening on radio)?

Yes - dire country music on KFM. Can they not throw in a bit of Aphex Twin? He was born in Limerick after all.

Anyway, final score 3.12 to 0.09. Good win, the lads have restored a bit of pride in the Kildare jersey. Going to be some battle in a fortnight, expect there'll be a lot of niggling stuff and verbals (and that's just in the stands etc). Will be in attendance, look forward to it.

Well done again to the lads, have given us something to smile about for the first time this year.

Well done to the lads on a good win. The scoreline definitely flatters us. We got a bit of luck with the first 2 goals, our goalie made a couple of great saves and Offaly kicked loads of wides. Our performance was patchy enough and we'll need to improve for the Meath game.

Well done Kildare, ye were much better than us.

Was impressed with a few lads I knew nothing about, Heeney the keeper, Maguire full back and midfielder Ryan Moore. Kelly showed his bit of class.

Please win the next one and keep the loud-mouths quiet for a day or two,,,,,,,

Well done to the lads tonight.

Early days yet but great to see good attacking football being played. They supported each other very well with players constantly running forward for the next pass.

Niall Kelly, David Hyland and Colin Heeney stood out for me.

Looking forward to the Meath match.

Good Win, although the Scoreline flatters.. The Big turning point was about 7 Mins into the 2nd Half, when Offaly had Scored 4 Points in 4 Minutes, to leave it 1 - 08 to 0 - 08, and Colin Heaney pulled off His 2nd exellent Save..

I hate to say Offaly looked Poor, after We Win, but other than Cunningham, they didnt have a lot.

For Me, Heaney, Mescal, Hylo, Moore and Kelly were our Brightest..

Meath will be a huge step up, and Our performance last Night would imo fall short, they have Ten Players on their Senior Panel, and their 2 MidFielders are also their Senior pairing.. At Minor at this Age Group they we're beaten by the Dubs in the Leinster and AI Final.

Chris Healey, David Duke and Wayne Fitzpatrick came on late, to show We have strength in dept.

Good to win but were a little lucky indeed. The 2nd goal was the turnining point followed by the stupid sending off.
Thought Kelly was by a mile the best player on the pitch particularly late in the first half when he was the only one who seemed likely not to kick it wide.
Dont think we will go very far with a midfield that cant catch a ball or break it to a colleague. Good to Hyland storm into the game in the 2nd half and a few players coming on who might well start the next day.
Much needed boost for the county!

Spot on murof re: MidField, we werent exactly dominant in this area.. Our Free taking was poor enough also.. But its great to be critical after a Win, and it gives Management something to work on.

Agree again murof, the Team that finished was probably stronger than what started.. not a bad spot to be in.

One area I think we need to improve on is winning the breaking ball from the kick-outs. Offaly hoovered up most of the breaks last night, even when we looked more likely to win the ball. I'd consider moving Pascal Connell to midfield, Hylo to centre-back, put Duke on the wing and one of the midfielders to wing-forward. As Seamus said, Meath have their senior pairing at midfield and they got the better of our senior midfield in Navan a few weeks ago.

When we did get our hands on the ball, I thought we were fairly slick moving the ball forward. Niall Kelly was excellent and I thought Mark Sherry and Neil Flynn were good as well. I'd still have a concern about the full-back line who were caught out a couple of times. Lots to work on but well done to the lads on a good win.
