Hammering Meath in 2010 was probably my favourite day supporting Kildare, I can't remember 1998 or 2000 Crying or Very sad Never felt pride like it after the Down match all though I cried my fucking eyes out. Can't wait til were good again.

Kildare at our peak under McGeeney. Football was fast, hard and great to watch.

Check out the support too, compared to crowd that was at the two games in Tullamore this year for our two games this year - chalk and cheese.

I know support is directly related to success of the team (and we were reletively successful under McGeeney) - but the lack of numbers at matches this year is sickening.

The Donegal game in 2001. Never heard Newbridge sound so good.

Nothing beats 98. 3 up with just a few mins to go and of course Meath draw level. I still remember sinking down in my seat in disbelief as all around me Meath supported rejoiced. There was only one outcome likely, they would win the kick out and send it over the bar as they had done so often over the past decade and our long wait would go on.
Incredibly within seconds, 4 players and 3 long footpasses and a sublime finish had us 3 clear again. I still remember the shock on the Meath supporters faces, this just did not happen to them! 2 more points put the icing on the cake and then the pitch invasion.
On a sadder note I shook hands with both Demot Earleys just after they had an emotional hug on the pitch. The pride on the fathers face was wonderful to see.
Great to have been there and hopefully we will see days like that again.

I give out a lot but I still go, but it's hard when you are constantly talked down by the manager. The one thing no one can argue about was McGeeney always believed we could beat anyone on our day and most even when we were not at out best. He talked the team up and it showed in the level of support that followed the team every where.
The current incumbent would drain the life out of any team when you listen to his interviews.

Kickingking that's a great find, I remember that summers evening like it was yesterday. We'll never see a crowd like that again in the old ground, just be happy you seen it at it's best.

Funnily enough - that's my abiding memory of that day too - chatting with Dermot Senior on the pitch after the match. A wonderful day

My god I have been looking for footage of that for years!! I remember (as a 6 year old) sitting on the terrace bar up the back of the town end. When I was on the ground all I could see was the legs of giant Kildare people everywhere! Needless to say I fell off the bar when we scored the winner.
That game was one of my earliest memories of seeing Kildare and one of my favorite memories.
However beating the dubs a year earlier is my first ever and greatest memory of kildare football.

1998 Leinster final has to be it for me. Jaysus there was nothing like it. The official reception in Naas was great. A rather merry Dermot Earley signing the back of my jersey in the middle of the Main St and then Micko and a lot of the players mingling with loads of fans in the old GAA clubhouse. I was 16 at the time, I don't recall being asked for any ID that night Wink

Tommy Moolick's goal against Down in Newry in last year's qualifiers. Probably Kildare's best performance under Jason Ryan. Skip to 0:55.

And this..

Martin Lynch's goal with the questionable number of steps against Wicklow is on here. I was in the Cusack for this, second half was as good as the first was shambloic. Twenty-two feckin years ago, hard to believe:

Lynch was some player. Must have taken 10 steps... And Dermot Doyle was a lucky chap that kick snuck inside the post - teammate wide open with a tap over!

I remember that match in 1993 as well. We were something like 2-7 to 0-4 down to Wicklow at half-time and came back to win it at the death. Kildare teams have never done it the easy way!
Martin Lynch used to get a lot of stick from Kildare fans but he was some player for us. He was brilliant in 1998 either setting up scores, winning frees which Graven tapped over or scoring himself. Unfortunately John O'Mahony came up with a plan to keep him quiet in the final which went a long way to Galway winning the game.
I saw Martin at the Longford match on Saturday and it's good to see the former players keeping the faith.
