There's such a wide difference of opinion as to the direction the game should take that they can never please everyone. The tackle does need work done on it but personally I'd hate to see the compromise rule tackle introduced and I'd like to see the number of people tackling the man in possession reduced. No matter what changes/restrictions they introduce some clever coach will find ways to negate the desired effects. There isn't that much wrong with the game and it will never be perfect. Do they ever trial these changes behind closed doors and ask coaches/players opinions before rolling them out?

The only new rule I would like to see is a 'mark' from a kick out only. It might bring some old style fielding back into the game and reduce the dreaded short kick outs.  As things stand if a midfielder catches a kick out he is just surrounded and ends up giving away a free.

There's far too much fluting around done with the rules. Whatever happened to the rule that said the playing rules can only be changed every five years? Micko was right years ago when he said the rules were just fine if they were implemented properly.

In any case, no amount of rule changes are going to affect the three major issues: inconsistent refereeing, bumbling national disciplinary committees who can't seem to do anything other than fcuk up their rulings leaving them open to legal challenge, and the propensity of every gurrier (egged on by officials and managers it must be said) to exhaust every possible appeal route when they should just man up and accept they did wrong and take their suspension.

Any views on a 13 a side game?? Has this ever been trialled or suggested? It would surely lead to a more attacking open game..
I'd also like to see a larger penalty box...
