Kavanagh's unlucky to lose out in my opinion. Was one of our best players in the semi final.

Some bench we have with McMonagle, Feely and Kavanagh! Murph obviously feeling confident.

2 dummy teams after being named I would imagine, Basquel will defo start for Dublin and I would be surprised if Clayton doesn't into their defence as well.

As for us Kavanagh will defo start just a question of who loses out, will be either Sherry or possibly Kelly who has been largely ineffective in the games up to now.

Apparently so. Just bumped into a player who said management told them all the team would be named tonight so this 15 could be just for the programme.

What's the best spot for parking. Haven't been up there for a couple of years and all I remember is lots of bollards. Is it worth chancing the car park at the ground or is that a nightmare to get back out of.

I'll be coming in from the Trim side.
Any suggestions appreciated.

I think the carpark is the handiest. That's where I always go. If you're coming from the Trim side you can avoid the town completely too and come in on the carpark side of the pitch.

I'm not so sure re our team.. Murphy doesn't usually throw out dummy teams. And as far as I know the team was announced last night.

best of luck to everyone tomorrow.

On a side note it's nice to see O Moore park has recovered sufficiently in the last two days to allow the Laois v Meath game go ahead on Sunday

Some experience listening to those last few minutes on the radio. Sick dread in the pit of my stomach, head in my hands, borderline shaking every time Dublin had the ball.

Fairly sadistic of the commentators, by the way, to make me believe for a second or two that Sherry had scored a goal.

Ha, likewise! Great stuff from Ger McNally though. Reminds me of the days senior was competitive and a close and cracking game against Dublin resulted in animal-like emotions rather than enjoyment. Sad in its own way that no longer exists but this is great stuff.

Was just thinking the same you'd miss the competitive Leinster finals we had up until about 2006. It's great stuff.

I'm reading a match report. Did we really bring on a sub in 53rd minute, take him off in the 60th only to bring him back on in the 68th minute or is there 2 C scanlons

Was a bit surprised by the cockiness going into this one, given the history of Kildare football .

I felt Dublin were slight favourites for Leinster from the outset, although some on here disagreed with me. Fair enough.

Anyway, the glaring weakness in our team was the full back line and Dublin ruthlessly exploited it.

They created a couple of goal chances before they scored the first and it was obvious we were skating on thin ice. Then they eventually and we still didn't change it, no sweeper or covering players.

Dublin on the other hand were tactically much smarter and highly attuned to cutting out our goal threat.

Murphy was also wrong to withdraw McMonagle in my opinion. Very frustrating because we had the winning of the game and our lads put in a heroic effort. But we simply didn't learn from the mistakes of last year.

Another hard pill to swallow. We just can't seem to get the rub of the green at underage level as a county. To go in at half time only two points ahead must have been a bit dispiriting after having most of the play in the first half. They showed great heart in the second period and I think everyone in the ground thought Sherry had snatched it at the end. Both teams were out on their feet in extra time and the Dublin goal was the clincher.

I thought Paul Mescal, Ryan Houlihan, Ben McCormack and Neil Flynn stood out.

Absolutely devastated to lose this one. I couldn't be critical of the players as they but put in a monumental effort and were unlucky to lose. This was one of our best Under-21 teams of recent years up against an average (by their standards) Dublin team which makes it doubly disappointing.

I agree with HG that we didn't learn the lessons from last year as regards our defending. Dublin had 7 or 8 good goal chances against our 2 or 3 half-chances so in many ways the result was inevitable. It's hard to be critical of our full-back line as they were left one on one against forwards like O'Callaghan and it's very difficult to defend. Other teams.(like Dublin) are able to funnel men back to protect the full-back line so why can't we?

Another problem is that we seem to concede scores in spurts. We conceded 1-2 in a couple of minutes at the end of the 1st half, 4 points in a couple of minutes in the 2nd half and 1-1 in extra-time. We seem to lose concentration or panic when the opposition score and compound the problem.

Finally, I thought Con Kavanagh, Paul Mescal, Shea Ryan, Pascal Connell, Luke Flynn, Neil Flynn and Ben McCormack were excellent today.

Gut wrenching defeat, Ryan and Mascal and many others did not deserve that

Glaring goal chances missed. Dublin created more and took more of them. For me we were the better team other than that but how often is that the case with Kildare teams. We also continuously over-estimate how good our young players are. That said I was massively impressed with Luke Flynn and Neil Flynn today. Didn't think Neil had as much ability from play as he demonstrated today - should be a nailed on starter in the senior team. Luke's attitude was first class - always trying to make something happen and his work-rate was exceptional. McCormack looks like a senior candidate as well - I think he took a knock on the first half after his incredible first 20 minutes - amazing score taker very unlike the traditional Kildare forward. Would have him in senior squad as well.

Was disappointed in some of the up and coming forwards - didn't really happen for Healy and McMonagle looked nowhere near another Niall Kelly as someone suggested earlier.

Agree the full back line was a weak area and as with the seniors once the ran through the middle we were carved open too often. Mescall was good coming forward at times and the intensity of our defence was good generally but Dublin just had a couple of good forwards we just couldn't really handle.

Absolutely gutted at the result and you have to feel we really left this one behind. That Sherry miss and the McCormack one as well will haunt them. N Flynn also has a goal chance and took a point before Sherry's chance. Think he should have gone for the jugular but harsh perhaps on a lad who's scored 21 points I think in 2 Leinster Finals without ending up on the winning side.

Yeah, the McMonagle / Niall Kelly comparison was me, I stand by it. I thought it was totally wrong the replace him today and it actually made things worse. But anyway, people will disagree with me, fair enough.

As Johnny C said earlier, if you concede goal chances away cheaply, particularly to Dublin teams, the result is almost inevitable. It's very disappointing because it's a replication of what happened last year.

I thought we has oustanding individual displays today - Shea Ryan, Connell, McCormack and Neil Flynn and a few others were magnificent - but as a team Dublin played that bit smarter. They always had a covering player for our full forward line and, at the end, O'Callaghan was absolutely brilliant. If you leave a lethal forward like that one on one, with no sweeper or extra cover, you're asking for trouble but this is the way Murph plays.

He has been a superb manager for Kildare but a couple of tweaks and I felt this one was well within grasp. We were 9-2 and playing brilliantly, but you felt the openness at the back could cost us at some point. It stayed that way for the whole match, even into extra time.

That's my take but look, I know it's easy from the stands etc.
