Apparently according to res dubs we are a 'disgrace in terms of supporters'. And we 'dont deserve this group of players'. I normally avoid going on there but I was interested to hear what the more educated section of that site had to say. Normally a few good posters on there who are fair in view. A few arseholes unfortunately. I must say I think the majority of Kildare supporters who were there would be of my opinion that we bet ourselves and would congratulate Dublin on their win. Pity a few dubs, like the chap behind me in the stand who turned to me and delighted in saying how we 'will never beat them', exist!

Just on Farrell, it is his first year working with this particular group. Read somewhere after the match, not sure how true it is but Farrell has never lost to Kildare at any level as a manager.

How easily we lost our composure for the second period of extra time was extremely disappointing to me. Completely panicked and started hunting goals from the throw in when a couple of points would have forced Dublin out of their defensive shell and made a goal easier to get.

Lilywhites - I also had Dub supporters shout at me that "we'd never beat them", after Paul Curran scored a last gasp equaliser at a league game in Newbridge in 94 (also notable as the game where Pat O'Neill and Mick O'Dwyer nearly came to blows on the sideline after O'Neill called Micko a "mercenary").

We did actually beat them the following year in the league. And again in the championship in 98 (when a certain D Farrell was corner forward) and once more in 2000. Several times since at underage level.

It wasn't a very accurate prediction tbh. Dub fans getting it totally wrong - there's a surprise.

By god! I heard about that one with O'Dwyer and O'Neill. Ah it would just drive you mad sometimes. The majority of GAA people are genuine supporters from all counties, but it appears to me that all the bad ones come to the fore all the time. Its especially sickening to lose to the dubs when you are a leixlip person!! The irony of it all is that lucan folk who come into our village for pints - true dubs - are far more gracious in victory than the dubs who live in leixlip. The ones who moved here in the boom are vicious!! One particular man has his kids (who are actually kildare children owing to the fact they were reared in Leixlip) hating kildare. Sickening to listen to really.

Yeah, particularly when it comes to Kildare / Meath and Dublin, there is little love lost.

On a side note, Saturday's match was one of the best ever games I've seen following Kildare teams. Plenty of quality football and drama, and a real edge to it. Everything you'd want really.

Would still rank the first replay in 97 against Meath at number one (best match I've ever been at tbh), but Saturday was right up there.

I think 7 of the starting team and another 6 of the 24 named are underage next year, however a major rebuilt will be required with both midfielders and scorer in chief gone.

Of the players that played on Saturday, I think Declan Campbell, Paul Mescal, Shea Ryan, Con Kavanagh, Conor Hartley, Rory Feely, Ben McCormack and Mark Hyland are underage.

Hyland is underage next year. He played on the 2014 minor team.

In 2018. That means that our 2015 Leinster minor winning team will miss out.

Will be up to Murphy himself to decide what he wants to do I would imagine. Cian O Neill will have input into the manager as well I would have thought.

Cheers

Another year with Murphy would make sense and then for Hackett to do two years, maybe have Tadhg Fenin as a selector overlapping both camps. He knows the players and like Rainbow this year knows what's needed to step-up to senior inter-county.

Maybe he doesn't have the time or the interest for another year. He's give a huge amount of time and effort over the last few years. Maybe he just wants a break.

The only reason I asked the question was that Hackett was over next year's team at minor. . Murphy is also a senior selector, so he has a big commitment there.

Delighted mayo won. They were the better team.. it's safe to say the ref won't be getting any xmas cards from Dublin anytime soon.
