Pitch apparently has small "stands" both sides but no seating. In this day and age you'd think the GAA might insist on minimum standards such as the availability of at least a small number of seats for the elderly and disabled. Even with St Conleth's you can make sure you've a seat if you go reasonably early.

Meanwhile Semple Stadium can miraculously host a hurling tie today.

No doubt the ticket prices will be reduced to reflect the sub-standard facilities Mad

I think they have changed the venue because of global warming

And here's a surprise - just watching Tipp hurlers on Tg4 and Semple pitch looks in fine fettle for this time of year.

At least that would be a clear reason. Can argue whether schools hurling should take precedence over NFL but don't have a problem with kids getting a run in Semple. But if they have no other ground of county standard with a few seats they should play at a neutral venue as Roscommon had to.

It doesn't bother me where it's played. It's the fact they are moving it every five minutes to grounds that are clearly not suitable for the game.
We got hammered in this County because of health and safety issues with Newbridge. Yet Tipperary can move a game that could draw a large support from Kildare to a ground that is a risk. If an elderly person goes to this game and there are no seats available to them and they have to stand for two hours and possibly hurt themselves in the process then Tipperary GAA should be held liable for picking the venue.
Personally it's my view that a ground that does not have seats available for those that need them i.e senior citizens should not even be considered.

Tipp footballers have only started playing regularly in Thurles in the last few years; it's not traditional football country but Evans pushed hard for it as an obvious marker of parity of esteem... Kildare hurlers could only dream of the level of investment Tipp county board have put into football though. They have worked really hard at football, as the results have shown their at and U21, in particular, and at senior, to a lesser extent. What's happening at senior is that they are beginning to lose a couple to the hurling, not to mention O'Riordan to AFL but Kildare know all about that.

They also won a minor AI a few years ago which was a massive achievement.. and probably should have won the following year also.
This won't be an easy game, especially after the last 2 performance .

Have revised my expectations downwards after the last couple of games, things simply haven't clicked.

As you say, Tipp have a right good bunch of young players and if we're as ragged as the last two matches, they'll beat us.

We need to up our game big time, league is nearing its end and things are getting serious.

It was some achievement in 2011 alright - Dublin team they beat in the final had Ciaran Kilkenny, Paul Mannion and Jack McCaffrey - all young player of the year contenders when the Dubs won the senior AI just two years later.

To clarify, what I meant was that Thurles isn't traditional football country, not Tipperary. There is plenty of traditional football land in Tipp, and they tented to play games there. I see it's down for Tipp Town according to the fixtures sent out by the GAA today.

Yeah Seamus, they probably won it with the lesser of the two teams if anything - and obviously were very close in U21 final too... their results didn't come around by accident, had won an All-Ireland schools at B or C level before that, Clonmel were robbed in All-Ireland club semi-final this year by terrible refereeing and the team that beat them walked the All-Ireland - they have invested heavily in football in Tipp. The problem is transferring it to senior because dual players are likely to choose hurling. But they'll always be hard and it bemuses me that some Kildare people think it'll be a walk in the park, just as they thought with Roscommon at minor and senior level in the last few years that it should be, even though the evidence suggested otherwise. There is just no reason to think that. Hopeful definitely, of course.

To be fair his refereeing is probably of a standard similar to our football. Referee, team, venue and organisation all very Division Three!

Confusion reigns!

I heard from a reliable source tonight that the game is fixed for Clonmel!

Between this and the messing around with the venue for the U21 final, we're being taken for mugs!

This just in - Kildare County Board have agreed to play the Tipp and Dublin games in a double header in Micronesia Thursday evening.

In a statement they say, "We apologise for any inconvenience caused to supporters. Tickets for both games still valid. Regrettably neither Irish Rail nor Bus Éireann service the Western Pacific Ocean."

If I'm not mistaken, the above google maps satellite view is of Sean Treacy Park, home of Arravale Rovers GAC. It looks fairly small. The idea must be to put the game on 2pm on the Saturday so that nothing more than a tiny handful of Kildare supporters travel. That stand is no bigger than the stand in Clane. If there's any sort of crowd at all this ground is not suitable.
