unavailable for selection I thought?

It can be a huge commitment.. hopefully he'll be back soon.

It's massive Seamus, a lifestyle choice. Yeah, he would definitely be an addition.

Heard there are a number of additions being made to the county panel tonight, don't know any names but I have heard it won't be limited to 21s so maybe a couple who were let go earlier in the year such as Ray and Morgan O Flaherty may be recalled, I doubt O Neill will be allowed have a panel much larger than 35 so if he is looking to bring players in he will have to let lads go to do so.

Not a bad way to do it I suppose, gave some lads a chance during league, Any Leixlip lads on this yous are flying high any lads that deserve a shout at county panel? I'd imagine Ben McCormack Luke Flynn will be going into that panel, maybe shea Ryan because we have struggled at 6 in recent years

Agree that some players will need to be cut from the panel but unfair if they do it this week, considering the league final is coming up in my opinion. Let them finish out the league now and hopefully get their medal seeing as everyone who's already part of the panel has been training hard since before Christmas.

Yea that's true. Just personally I'd bring in whoever extra they want now but wouldn't drop anyone until the final is over. I just think it would be bad form for those who've played throughout the league to be pushed aside now. For the sake of 2 weeks they could have a few extras.

Are league matches at 6 o clock this Sunday? The lads playing really don't get their weekend at all, but I'd say the managers love it keep them out of the pubs

Cian said after the Clare game that they would be in championship mode from that point on, that it was job done for the League.

However, he said that he would only be drawing from the League panel for the League final, so any lads being dropped will not be part of the Championship squad. Couldn't be fairer.

If some lads didnt put there hand up to stake a claim for a place then the only option would be to drop them. We have been going on for years saying that some lads are still on the panel that shouldnt be etc I like what Cian and the selectors are doing it keeps all lads that want to play for Kildare on there toes its the only way to keep improving the panel. So if it is 6 out and 6 in then so be it this bull about lads training all year etc they would be doing the same with there clubs.

Well, they wouldn't be training anything like the same extent, they might get to go away for a weekend, or go on the lash at a stag or a wedding. But apart from that, there's nothing new here... I don't recall there ever being a year where the panel at the end of the year was the same as the one that started. This wouldn't be unusual at all. You can't carry six if you think there are six going better than them. This happens in every county every year.

It's just that some players were sent away with clear instructions of things to work on, or in the belief that they needed to get fit, get games and so on... It's just that O'Neill is preparing for championship now and making the calls. But he's just saying that none of the guys called in will be considered for the Division 3 final. Which is fair enough.

The lads called in are being given a few weeks to stake their claim in training and challenge matches before the championship panel is finalised.

If things go downhill in the summer we won't be able to say that O'Neill didn't give enough players a chance anyway.

Thought Luke Flynn, Pa Connell, Paul Mescal could be all looked at but I suppose present panel has more options in defence and midfield than forwards so it's right Con Kav, Healy and McCormack be looked at anyway. And maybe monitor the others if they are standing out at club level along with good years with 21's without ruling them out.

Be surprised if Mescal and Flynn are not among the six. I think we can only speculate who the six are until it's announced officially. Flynn would be a great option, very versatile, physically powerful and a very good footballer.
