Clane and Ballyteague county minors are being accommodated in the Athy and Kilcock fixtures.

Rumours have it that county minors will not be allowed play championship! Surely this will affect some parish clubs, any opinions on this??

They could lose to Mayo yet and then they will all be available!

Can't see them losing to mayo, but a lot of club teams depend and need their minors hopefully they'll be allowed play but rumours has it that they won't be allowed

Would many senior clubs be relying on minors?

A few. Clane, naas & maybe few others would need their minors & also intermediate teams like ballyteague-Hyland, kilcock-gibbons Raheens-woodgate these teams depend on these lads.

IF the county board were to allow that to happen, it would be scandalous and add further to the notion of the clubs being a mere nuisance. They have to be allowed played or the games postponed

I believe a number of "rural clubs " broke the u17 player rule during the week in the reserve championship.. it was simply a matter of not being able to field a team otherwise.. ridiculous rule.

Interesting to see if the CCC intervene to apply the rules and call the offenders to book. Not good to have an ala carte implementation. Bad rules need to be changed not ignored.

At every angle you look, all you can see is Croke Park strangling the club game. Aside from the issues  regarding clubs being unable to field teams, IMO the bigger problem is how the development of these young fellas will be hindered by forcing them to only play the handful of games that the county board provides at their own age group.

And I seriously doubt that when a 16yo rocks up to play an adult soccer match that there's some yipe waving a ruling book telling them they're two young. Here's the GAA searching for a problem to match the solution they've already come up with.

Imagine the hilarious situation where a club has a county minor who is underage again the following year and can't tog out for his 1st or 2nd team..
Bigger issue folks is that the young fella playing might not be covered by insurance.

There is no might not be covered about it. You are not covered end of. The claim form asks for DOB and the grade at which you were playing at the time of injury. Clear breach of Official GAA rules. Not sure how stringently it would be enforced. But if my experience of trying to work through injury claims is anything to go by this is a clear out for the injury scheme not to pay a claim.

The whole grading issues needs looking at, playing 5 minutes as a sub shouldn't rule a lad out of championship for his own grade. Again this is something hurting the smaller clubs big time.

Hi all , just reading through everything , so is the county board able to clarify something or not for the clubs to plan the next couple of weeks? Most important part of the year for 00's of people across the county .. Great position for the county minors to be in obviously but surely some clarity should be sought?

Brenda's Hackett must understand that some clubs actually need their minors, it will be a disgrace if these players are stopped! Club managers will need to plan with or without players

Truth is stop beating around the bush here, what will happen is that the County Board will say the players are available, Brendan Hackett won't come out and deny that but will tell the players that if they play for their clubs there is a good chance they will get injured or get burned out following the year they have had and that would threaten their place on the minor panel so they will have to make their own decision!!!!!!
and most of the players won't play for their clubs by their own choice.................

But its not HQ who make the rules, its the 10 or is it 20 lads from every county at Congress who make them... This blaming a stadium for rules a lad disagrees with is a bit much !!!!!

I'm not blaming the stadium (I'm sure you know this Laughing )

All these rules are typically proposed by central council on the back of some gobshite fretting about young fellas getting hurt. The way things are going, the GAA will end up doing away with hurling and football altogether in the name of health & safety. Ofc there's an good chance that it will become a niche sport before then as more and more players and spectators lose interest.

I recall a few years ago a proposal to have u 14s, u16s etc for players that were up to the age only. . There'd be about 4 teams playing.. TG it was never going to be passed.
