Crazy odds in a one-off game with nothing at stake, particularly considering Clare were the better team for most of the game last Sunday.

They are I suppose.. we were 1/8 to beat Sligo after all.
It'll be interesting to see the team for this as it will be our last competitive match before the championship.. I wonder will cian give a few u21s a run out in croker.

He's awful. He'll probably follow us up to Div 2 next year.

Some injury news folks:

Daniel Flynn, Keith Cribbin and Cian O Donoghoe will all miss out.

Flynn is very doubtful for the 1st round of championship

It may be Division 3 but isn't it great to be in Croke Park again in a final, after our long winter of discontent. Really looking forward to this and having the choice of the whole of the Hogan Stand for a seat Smile

Clare will travel alright. Not in huge numbers obviously but will be relatively well supported. They had probably the biggest away support of any of our games in Newbridge this year.

On a side note, isn't it strange that Antrim would forgo home advantage in the Christy Ring Cup v Kildare on Saturday. The game is being played in Parnell Park on Saturday at 1 to allow supporters go to both.

Of course, the question is why would the GAA not have opened Croke Park a bit earlier and let the game be played there at 2.

If I was an Antrim player I wouldn't be too happy playing the game in Parnell. Maybe a sign of over confidence!

That day against Sligo if it was Mooney it was comical. Chap beside me from Monasterevin noted early on how all the frees were being given in 'the zone' - in front of stand, near town end between the 13 and 21. We had a great laugh at the consistency of him giving frees in that area of the field, much to the dismay of the referees corner of the supporters in the stand!!

Hopefully we finish the job on saturday and win it out. It would properly mark the first hurdle of many that has been overcome, if we are successful.

Good luck lads!

Great to see Neil Flynn starting and interesting that Feely is starting FF - he did ok the last day against Clare when he was moved forward having struggled against Gary Brennan - worth looking at it in a game like this

Good to see Flynn in there, Feeley at full forward worked well when he was moved the last day. Interesting to see Houlihan coming straight back in.

It's important we win to keep the momentum up. I don't like the idea of going into the Wexford game on the back of another loss in Croke Park.

Poor old Claire Smile

On a more serious note - assuming we play as well as we did against Tipp and Clare last time out, I'd have very serious worries about the effect the ref could have on this match - he is our "friend" affraid from the Sligo debacle...

I like the look of that forward line overall and Smith coming in now is always good in terms of his finishing.
There is scope there with those lads too if Kelly wants to go inside at any stage Feely can come out and that will be enhanced further when Dan Flynn is back as he could rotate nicely with Feely during games in and out of FF and Midfield.
Looking forward to seeing the lads stretch their legs In Croker too.

Just watching here and regardless of how it pans out, a few thoughts.
1. We are playing and getting a game from a team that is overweight in many positions. Physically they look like an intermediate side emerging into February.
2. Our defence doesn't play together and nor does it play with any intensity. One mistake and they are done. Top four/five will score the same sort of goals as they did last season until that changes. One guy gets beaten as happens with direct running over and over and he's clean through or there's a massive overlap.
3. What's with the kickouts?
4. Neil Flynn must have one of the biggest and best boots in the country.
5. While I'd have more hope for the future based on what's now on the line, I'd be every bit as pessimistic of humiliations this summer based on what's on the pitch. I would go so far as to say we are as bad as a year ago.
