Was announced 5 minutes of added time, how can 7 minutes be added into 5. Complete farcical ending. So disappointing for TMH. Other than that I thought he handled the game well

I wasn't at the game so cant comment but usually the added time "is a minimum number" of added time minutes and in addition it doesn't take into account anything that happens in added time.

So 7 minutes might have been appropriate but as I wasn't there I cant be sure.

It is a bugbear of mine when additional time is announced, lets say 3 minutes and the ref blows it at exactly 3 minutes when in that time, one team has been blatantly wasting time etc.

That's all well and good but its not possible to add an extra 7 minutes on to 5. You're right about the minimum number of minutes of course but there was enough football played in the 5 to maybe add on an extra minute or two if he wanted. Bearing in mind the two points Towers kicked were in the 11th and 12th minute I just felt it very harsh on TMH.

Ted while it may have been very harsh on the house, and the time added may seem extended to allow for an equaliser. .. if the ref played 3 minutes of the 5, and believed that the melee, along with the tmh number 9 s obvious attempt at feigning injury to waste time , added up to 7 minutes, then 3 played plus 7 minutes of delays, then left 2 of the original 5 minutes. Hence the 12 minutes.

Seamus is correct.

If a player goes down in injury time then why should that time not be added on as well ?

Nothing to do with Towers, and nothing to do with the ref either.

I haven't heard one bit of analysis from Tmh on why they didn't hang on to their lead. Blaming the ref is the easy way out.

Doesn't wash with me.

Where did you read anything from TMH blaming the referee?

I didn't see anything personally but I wasn't hanging around. I might have heard booing, not sure, I was in a bit of a daze after the game. What did you see or hear?

There was only a small bit of booing from what I saw. TMH have to put this to one side and concentrate on winning the replay. I'm sure the players are.

The ref today was a joke, from a neutral he was very bad, in the stand beside supporter from both clubs they all thought he was bad

Ref yesterday was very whistle happy and the two big calls he had to make went in our lads favour, namely the penalty and the sending off so I won't be complaining about him too much! (biased opinion)

He is a fussy ref and certainly got some calls wrong yesterday but seriously what do we expect from Refs? They can't get every call right and just like players make bad calls.

peno was a joke. Would not blame him for the sending off. Everyone knows he loves himself. He has to be the centre of attention. It was always going to be tight. Moores should of had 2 goals at lease so cant blame the ref for that.

As a neutral, he ruined the game for me as a spectacle. It's easy say that Moorefield missed a couple of goal chances, but that doesn't mean that they can't feel aggrieved for that farcical penalty decision.

I have to say in the early stages I felt sorry for both sides. It's bad that no one knew what way a free was going to be given every time the whistle blew. I'm astounded that this guy still gets big club matches in the county, and is moving up the ranks on the national scene too...

Although in fairness, I'm sure the assessors thought he had a magnificent game.

Ref if the drawn TMH game did everything but score a point himself to give Towers the draw. Big improvement needed today

Two of the most criticised refs on this thread are the two currently on the inter county panel of refs, does this suggest that we are all wrong and that the two in question referee exactly to the instructions laid down by the assessors or other relevant people in Croke Park? Just playing devils advocate here but maybe we need to change our perception of what a good ref is as it is clear that the people in charge of progressing referees are looking for something totally different to the typical GAA fan.

Or maybe its reaffirming the disconnect between Croke Park and club football. First and third Sunday in September showcase the glory of the GAA but the roots are forgotten. Refs at that level need to be a certain type of official but to the club player who's busting his ass trying to work, train, play and maybe keeping a family going so sometimes there needs to be a bit of common sense approach to the club player. I know people will say a rule is a rule irrespective of the level but on the odd occasion you would like to see a bit of common sense

Jez BFB don't mention the "common sense " and ref in the same sentence..

I was at a challenge match recently with one of our mourinhos refn it.. ah it was chronic the amount of cards given out.. and not a bad blow to be seen. Both teams were as confused as anyone watching on.

I do think tc has a good point re the accessors.
