No real surprises - certainly not defensively. McNally and Slattery the big calls in the forward line. Slattery has been very effective coming off the bench so a big call to start him. Great to see Dan Flynn finally make his first championship start. Nice to know we will have Paddy Brophy waiting in the wings.

Bench not named - but you'd have to assume from O'Neill's comments early this week that he'll be available

Ok thanks. Yeah no surprises 1-12 and Flynn. I'm surprised McNally got in instead of Healy, but he must be going well in training. Still yet to convince me he is a corner forward, but you have to trust the manager.

Is Flynn really making his championship debut, just shows how bad his injuries have curtailed him.

I hope Slattery can be as positive as recent times. Not sure McNally will stay right in as it doesnt suit him.
If it is as is then best yo keep Flynn inside instead of roaming.
As noted 1-12 is settled and rightly so.

Flynn made 4 championship starts in 2013 lads so not his debut. None since mind you.

Interesting selection. I think mcnally has lots to offer but just needs to steady himself before he shoots.

Laois team named as well.Graham Brody; Darren Strong, Denis Booth, Stephen Attride; Eoin Buggie, Padraig McMahon, Damien O'Connor; Brendan Quigley, Colm Begley; Alan Farrell, John O'Loughlin, Niall Donoher; Evan O'Carroll, Donal Kingston, Paul Kingston.

Can see Begley dropping back centre back, O'Loughlin midfield and McMahon sweeping. That'll leave nobody directly against Eoin Doyle. Laois will go direct into three big men in the full forward line.

If we play like we did for most of the league we should be fine. Play like we did against Galway and it'll be tight. Laois have a game played which I always think is a big advantage. Kildare by 3, eventually.

I was thinking that, back to the game, Niall Kelly is our key man. Get him on the ball enough pulling strings and we'll do damage.
I usually worry for Moolick pace wise but nothing in the Laois Midfield would worry me that way so it probably suits Tommy. Think Feely could come into his own on Sunday.

It's only natural most would be nervous, it's the default setting for all Kildare supporters, but I'm confident we can do enough.

Anyone fancy Louth to shock Meath.

Meath will beat louth but meath are no shakes.

Think Laois will line McMahon up on Kelly, other match ups they will go for are Strong v Dan Flynn, O Connor v Slatts, Attride v McNally

Can see them using Begley as a sweeper from midfield as they wont mind seeing Moolick on the ball trying to set up attacks.

Given that Doyle likes to drop off to protect full back line, they will want O Loughlin to exploit that by running into the space vacated by Doyle.

While Neil Flynn and Ben are big losses, I still fancy Kildare to win this one well.

I think Meath have improved a lot as the league progressed and should win. If Laois do opt to play long balls in to the full forward line then having someone to win breaking ball is essential., maybe someone like Keith Cribben who can then set up counter attacks at pace.
Hope McNally has the game of his life and can add some accurate shooting to his running game, if so he could be a good inclusion.
Agree that big game is needed from Kelly, at his best he is by far the most skilful forward on the field. Big test for Feely tomorrow as he will be meeting big physical players who can also take a score, albeit not the most mobile pairing.
If we don't concede goals then we should have enough to win but I'm still nervous!

Would have Dowling in there ahead of Slattery or McNally all day long. Perhaps he's not fit enough, though.

Not many scores in those six forwards, Feely's performance will go a long way to deciding the outcome.

Kildare by 2.

Why would you have Dowling in there . The 2 lads selected have serious pace against a laois FB line that will struggle with pace.
Did you even watch laois in the league ?

Because he's a better player than both. Pace is meaningless if it's not put over the bar.

I'd have Kelly in the corner with Dowling at CF.

No, I didn't watch Laois in the league.

The 2 lads will run them ragged . Healy , Dowling, leper will come in and finish the job.
This is a quality kildare squad. Winners by 5

Neither Fionn or mc nally are suited to the corner.. I would have started Healy, or as taibi said play Kelly in the corner.
Either way I'm confident enough.

Like our team.

Laois have decent forwards but terrible backs and we should score freely.

Also they have questionable discipline and I think it's 50/50 that Quigley finishes the game.

I've actually been getting annoyed thinking about this game! I honestly think we have a far superior team and squad but it is only the players who can prove it. I really hope they go into the mindset of, let's play with maximum intensity and show these boys one or two things about the harsh realities of life.

Like a certain group of Kildare men did 20 years ago...

The greatest team of all time currently struggling against Carlow - absolutely hilarious.
