HG, actually think our minor side of 2 years ago was our best since 2010 and will be very disappointed if  a lot of them don't make it to the senior squad soon.
Watching the highlights of the Meath game and can only hope they keep the same keeper as he looks a complete liability.  Who have we to mark Reilly? Keep him quiet and we have a real chance.
Spillane thinks Cian has us playing  Kerry style football.

Lyons or Cribbin I'd imagine but Meath have pace in abundance. O'Sullivan caused us problems with his running in Navan and McMahon and Wallace are speed merchants too. I think both sets of forwards could have a fun evening. Our tackling was much improved (bar the 1st minute debacle) in the half back line although I still worry about Doyle stepping back in front of the full back line while opposition run at us. Either Byrne needs to step across and Conway slots into Byrne's space or Conway operates as a 6. with Doyle behind him. Latter is my preference against teams we'll meet from now on.

Meath will really test what has been our Achilles heel over the past 5 years - teams running at pace at the middle of our defence. Reilly, Wallace, O'Sullivan and McMahon will all put the head down and run hard at us so if we can cope with this we should be half way there.

Good performance yesterday but Laois weren't at the races so it hard to know where we stand. Out keeper and defence (barring the 1st minute) were very good. Our full-back line are excellent at setting up attacks - Hyland and Lyons in particular. Feely was good in midfield but his free taking was poor. Up front despite scoring 5 points between them - I think Niall Kelly and Paul Cribbin can do a lot better. Also I was a bit confused with David Slattery's role - he took a lot out of the ball without really going anywhere. Cathal McNally and Dan Flynn were excellent.

Great start but it's going to get a lot more difficult from here!

You tryin' ta jump on the bandwagon Kelf, piss of back to biffoland and start beating them yourselves. We're on a roll and to be honest we looked better than the Dubs were last night. I think Leinster is wide open this year but lets not get carried away yet, the way Laois played today I think even Carlow would have beaten them.

Who do you think beat them in the final League game to relegate them, so piddle on now and try to settle old scores some other way,,,,

Particularly love the bandwagon jumping line from someone with 2 posts in 12 months. Also, Kildare beat a shit Laois side, all of a sudden Leinster is wide open. Best ignored, kelf.

It's good we have different opinions on which was the best minor team. For me it was the 2013 team.

We actually have had a lot of good minor teams since 2010 Seamus. Even though the 2012 tram wasn't great it still had Brophy, Kelly and Hyland!
The main thing is that we need them to push the present players hard like they do in Dublin and Kilkenny. That will ensure the breakthrough comes sooner rather than later.

True murof. And 11 of that team were involved in 2013.

Bigball would definitely agree with that - had Fogarty and Mulhall on it. Lost out to Dubs in Leinster final after replay. I really hope we get Fogarty back next year.

It's funny how it works out. Some players jump out and then don't progress. Like, on that 2013 minor team, I had the same reaction to Wayne Fitzpatrick and Cein McMonagle as I would have had to Ben McCormack, Neil Flynn, Niall Kelly et al. I guess not everyone can make it.

If you can get 3 minors coming through every year whether it's club or county it's a result.. commitment to the cause after minor is massive.

Some team bigball.
Gas Doyler was a late corner on to that team.. that was a fair Armagh team and very few progressed.

Their goalkeeper made more yardage than anyone else on the team. Rex, I'm afraid you are reading me all wrong.... No

Thanks KK. Who would have thought at start of year that we'd have Paddy Brophy back in the squad and not Sean Hurley! Swings and roundabouts I suppose... If Paddy getting his sharpness back could be one hell of a card to play next time out...

Just on GAA Now looking at the highlights. That shoulder and point from Flynn was great to see.
He is an awful beast when he gets going.

The way inter county is going now players are peaking younger so around the 25/26 mark so in the next year or two that team should be peaking. Good win on Sunday wouldnt get carried away or anything like that I always remember Meath beating us a few years ago when we were on a roll against them I think it was ten games we beat them in a row. I would rate us and Meath around the same maybe with our recent underage success we might be a little ahead of them but not much.

Every score G Reilly gets seems to be the exact same. He makes his runs from deep and once he gets on the ball he is hard to stop. He isnt the type of player who likes to shoot from distance, i dont think ive ever seen him shoot from further than 30 yards out
. We need someone to get in his face and stop him from making these runs before he gets on the ball. Ollie lyons is certainly not the man i would pick out to mark him. Johnny byrne is probably the obvious choice.

Lyons marked him out of the game in 2014 I think he might have got taken off.

I think Reilly's only alright... Strong runner, decent finisher. I don't think he's Bernard Brogan or anything. He'll probably score 2-5 now.

Imo he's far too physical for ollie. Why i suggested Johnny.
Anyway fck Reilly. We've far more for them to worry about.

I'd say Ollie will mark Wallace. Keith Cribbin did a great job on Eoin O'Flaherty for JTB recently. I could see him tracking either Reilly or O'Sullivan.
