Fair enough was only a thought Kildaregaa, most likely for the best not playing the game on their terms anyways! Am I right in saying he played full back for DCU though or am I losing the plot altogether?

He does play full-back for DCU, but said in an interview recently he hates playing as a back, says he reckons people think he can play there because he plays as a defender in soccer, but it's very different and he doesn't like it in football.

I wouldn't move him out of midfield myself, where he is a mark machine. I rate David Hyland very highly, too, always have. Hyland might be a more natural centre-back but needs must and I think he's our best option for full-back.

I'd leave Hyland where he is, he should make hay going forward as Kingston won't follow him after a while. Stop the ball going in cleanly and that will solve a lot of the problems. Can't see them matching our scoring power. Add Brophy to the two Flynn's, Kelly, Cribbin, Dowling and Healy gives us good options when the game becomes stretched.

Yep - spoke to KFM and said he was off to NZ for a month and hopes to force his way onto the panel next year.

1-11 a decent score no matter who was marking him.
Hope he does come back into the panel next year. A class act. Had a tough time with injury and family bereavement.

He has the talent, now maybe seeing the rest of that U21 team come back together might spur him on.

Sure most of them are one defeat away from a summer in the states as usual.

Neil Flynn ruled out for 4/6 weeks with a hamstring tear - picked up in a training match at the camp in Portugal.

Ben McCormack had surgery last Monday - out of action for up to 10 weeks.

Tough to lose out on 2 starting corner forwards.

Agree Lilysavage. Hardly the same thing Podge ( off them panel for more than a year now) going to NZ. Disappointed with Flynn injury - he's not having much luck.
My team would be:

Donnellan
O'Grady
Hyland
Lyons
Conway
Doyle
Byrne
Feely
Moolick
K Cribbin
Kelly
P Cribbin
Healy/Brophy*
Flynn
Slattery

*doubtful Brophy back up to the pitch of it yet unless Portugal helped a lot. Likely bench starter then. I'd like to see Kelly and Flynn interchanging between 11 and 14 to keep Laois guessing.

Only a lad who knows nothing about Kildare football and who is obviously from Laois would think Podge Fogarty was on the Kildare panel this year. He has been off it at least a year now.

We all know Laois are one defeat from mass exit.

Now back to Kildare, what is it with all the hamstring injuries. It seems to be our new cruciate.

Neil Flynn a terrific player but he does seem to be a bit injury prone doesn't he?

I've always been a great advocate for Fogarty. V skillful, excellent finisher and a great target man. I'd have him in the squad in a heartbeat - he's the one remaining player from 2010 minors/2013 u21s I'd love to have on board. Hopefully next year.

Back to the task at hand. Flynn and McCormack big losses. I'd imagine Healy and Slattery will slot in but wouldn't surprise me at all if O'Neill has some tactical trick up his sleeve for this game. We'll probably see Niall Kelly drift in and out to keep them guessing. I'd imagine Fionn Dowling will be pushing hard for a starting place again. Doubt we'll see Brophy at any point but the sooner we get him back on board the better.

It's a real pity both our first choice corner men are out. Healy showed enough promise himself during the league to suggest he has a lot to offer at this level but I don't think he is as consistent a scorer as Neil Flynn. Slattery deserves a chance after his cameos against Down and Galway. We'll need a big game from Dan Flynn. His pace and directness will scare teams if we can keep him right.
