In the above case it is obviously ridiculous to treat them as separate comps as the player may never serve any suspension in that case as he has no guarantee of ever playing in the provincial championship after the sending off.

I agree totally

I done think you can say Flynn plays on the edge.  He blatantly goes over it a lot.  That's why he got sent off a lot.  Hard players like Glen Ryan among others played on the edge but they were good enough players not to go over it and just play hard and fair.  Not hard and reckless as Flynn has done a lot.  Still like Flynn as a player.  Pity about the injuries.

At least someone prepared to call a spade a spade. What Flynn did / does at times has no place on a football field. People who regard that act on Sunday as showing some form of "leadership" are seriously deranged. It was reckless in the extreme in such a big game and he should know better at this stage of a long career. Whyte, similarly, was mildly provoked by Brophy but it was suicidal to react as he did. It's neither brave or in any way helping the team.
It's the remaining 13 players who should take the credit for the win. But any half-awake opposition would have punished their stupidity.

By the way I felt the same about McDonald and Lynch in '97. This isn't being anti-Moores. I lived among them for 5 years.

Don't think the two guys should have gone up for the cup presentation. Getting sent off for striking in the first 20 minutes is not exactly showing leadership surely?
Couldn't management have taken the opportunity to show their disapproval and at the same time rewarded the player who did most to win the game, Murnaghan? Certainly would have sent out the right signal to the young Moorefield players of the standards required of them.
Not questioning their rights to receive their winners medals.

Maybe "management" didn't have a problem with their lack of leadership. After all many management teams have allowed (encouraged?) Flynn's on-pitch behaviour over his career. How often has he left teams short of numbers stupidly?
Taking a more reasonable line however, the trophy is not awarded just for the final, it is awarded for the competition. If sent off in the First Rd should the same sanction apply? It's a petty, stupid rule.

Stupid rule, imagine a player getting 2 routine yellows and been denied a maybe once in a life time chance to lift the cup.

I am not condoning the 2 lads that got sent off however I glad that the captain lifted the cup on behalf of the team.

Someone bottle that Moorefield resilience. Nothing phased them today. Not Rathnew’s goal before HT. Not the red card. Not Éanna’s miss. Not the penalty. Remarkable performance. 2-13 to 2-7.

Well done to Moorefield. Great performance. O’Connor, Hurley Lynch, Heavey all excellent. And showed once again what great character they have when things are going against them. Make sure to finish the job now lads and give Kildare football a boost

Hard to believe that when Moorefield won the championship in 2013 that Luke Dempsey was the manager and Ross Glavin was the team captain.

Agreed and just shows that it's not a trait which should be alien to our county players. Different level and standards granted but bottle and heart needed no matter what standard you play

Great win for Moorefield yesterday. They seem to be improving with every game this year and playing great as a team.
Some of the tackling was bordering on viscous yesterday by Rathnew (was at least 3 obvious clothesline high tackles that I think the ref bottled with yellow cards) and for so many young lads they were unfazed by it and kept defending strongly and moving the ball well.
To go to Portlaoise and Aughrim and win both is a major achievement. Would be great to keep it going now.

Well done to Moorefield yesterday. I said in a recent post that this time of year teams really have to dig in it may not be pretty but Moorefield really know how to do it.

Definitely the county team should take note of the resolve, bravery and composure Moorefield have shown in the last few games. Dempsey and Masterson two for the future. Hurley-Lynch on fire yesterday and Eanna O'Connor's free-taking sublime.

Fair play to them, great that a Kildare team finally producing in Leinster again. St Loman's a fine team and Heslin a serious footballer but obviously really hope Moorefield win. Best of luck to them.

Side note but the full back line on last year's minor team – Dempsey, Shaw and O'Toole – are exactly the kind of defenders we need at senior level. Tough, hard tackling hoors with loads of ability – Dempsey sealed the win with a goal yesterday, cool as you like.

Obviously still all v. young but serious players, definitely.
