Absolutely.. move it on.. too much chat on individual players for me.
one thing from the dubs v dothers today. Not one scoreable free missed.. soooo important.

Draw match between Sash and Moore’s 7 points each, game was played in atrocious conditions. Draw was probably a fair result.

Referee call it off or did both teams agree not to go ahead? If the rain had of come half an hour earlier, Sash v Moore’s would have been called off, as it was the ref must have considered abandoning it during the 2nd half.

The referee called it and he was right to there was puddles all over the pitch. With a bit of common sesne it should of been called off earlier in the day

Unfortunate.. but the right decision.. our match was dangerous due to the pitch state.

Anyone at any of the games at the weekend ? Did moorefield and sash have full teams out ? 7 each pretty low scoring but then if conditions where bad I wouldn't read into it to much. Athy seem to have racked up big scores last 2 weeks. Is McCarron playing for them yet ?

Yes McCarron has played full back for Athy in the last few games. Havent watched him play but from two or three reports he is a great addition, head and shoulders above anyone else on the pitch, including our own county players!

PROs not submitting reports the obvious answer.

Fair point so.. but come championship all matches will be covered in detail.. it's a pity as soccer gets great coverage.
more effort should be made 're match reports to promote our game.

Yes i see this lack of coverage / promotion as a big issue in kildare. Hoganstand do an excellent job covering meath club football which in turns leads to greater interest in games to biggger crowds to more money to invest into gaa in kildare..

Absolutely Seamus - of course GAA is the most promoted game around.

But I speak with absolute first-hand experience here. The soccer coverage is provided by PROs. Club PROs to a coordinator, who submits it all, with tables, fixtures and reports. And it's coming at the same time, every week, guaranteed.

It is why I have no time for the whining from PROs that they're volunteers - they shouldn't take the job, if they don't have the time to do it. KDFL etc gets that coverage because they submit the copy. The local sports department in the Leader / Nationalist is made up of one person, maybe two in the Leader.

So that it's not happening in the GAA for the Leagues is down to the clubs.

In my time in the Nationalist, clubs in the KDFL faced sanctions if they didn't submit reports in time to the coordinator. I would come in on a Monday morning and they were two pages, done and dusted, first thing.

The championship will be covered because it's the priority, the lads will go to about eight games over two days, write them up and draw on a few more people to cover the rest.

But GAA folk tend to think they deserve it - and I say that, as you know Seamus, as a GAA man. But it's the reality.

And then Sarsfields play Carbury in the league the following Saturday, why the league game and Aldridge Cup final couldn't be one game for both the league points and the Cup makes little sense to me.

Bad form.
it's a series concern the amount of w/o been given.. u20 div 1 semi and now a Keogh cup semi.
Some clubs havnt entered 2nd teams in the reserve league.. and some who did are giving w/o already.. it's not long ago we had 2 junior teams and now struggle for one.

Its a tough one. One thing is for certain. Most lads now work their football around their personal life. Gone are the days of holidays being cancelled etc for a game or life being put on hold for the GAA. I suppose at the end of the day it is supposed to be a pastime so maybe they are right. But that is what is happening. It is very difficult to get someone to chase lads to try and play a reserve team game. Its would actually turn you off helping out. The county board have given the set of fixtures for the year. So we cant blame them on this.
