| I was having a debate with a few lads the other day about the best players who are not involved with Kildare at the moment. Decided to have a crack at picking a team. Tried to confine it to youngish players - with one or two obvious exceptions 1 Robbie Eyres (Clane) 2 Pádraig O'Flynn (Moorefield) 3 Kevin O’Neill (Moorefield) 4 Seán Murphy (Larries) 5 Darragh McEvoy (Celbridge) 6 Declan Brennan (Rathangan) 7 Tommy O’Neill (Larries) 8 Niall Browne (TMH) 9 Ross Glavin (Moorefield) 10 Paddy Murray (Moorefield) 11 Mark O’Sullivan (Celbridge) 12 James Eaton (Athy) 13 Danny Egan (Clane) 14 Gavin Smullen (Ballyteague) 15 Conor Mellett (Naas) Plenty of others out there in the county who I could have picked. I wouldn't have the greatest knowledge of the Junior or Intermediate clubs so there's presumably quite a few I've overlooked. Who should we be looking out for in the club championships when they eventually get going?( hopefully in early October!) |

| Not a bad team, strong backline, I'd probably leave out Browne, Egan and Mellett though.
Tom Byrne is one of the first to spring to mind as well... and Conor Brophy |

| Looks a decent team. Things are good when you can pick a team outside the top 30 or so that still looks strongish and there's still guys that could be added. |

| Dont think he made the junior panel after the trials. Although wouldnt use the juniors as an indication of talent - plenty of players opted not to play for that team this year but would be highly regarded around the county. I can see where these lads are coming from with the team and training this panel did they should have won a leinsnter, at least. |

| 1 Shane Connolly (laurences) 2 Sean Murphy (laurences) 3 Conor Brophy (Celbridge) 4 Jason Brosnan (Kevins) 5 Darragh McEvoy (Celbridge) 6 Tommy O’Neill (Laurences) 7 Ollie Lyons (celbridge) 8 Paddy Dunne (Athy) 9 Ross Glavin (Moorefield) 10 Pierre Ennis (Maynooyh) 11 Ciaran Graven(clogherinkoe) 12 Shane Harte(Celbridge) 13 Gavin Smullen (Ballyteague) 14 Jason Phillips (Moorefield) 15 Barry Noone(Kevins)
i have seen many of these play this year and im sure some will get a chance in the future. sean murphy was very unlucky to get injured and could have been involved with the seniors. also tommy o neill will get a chance but maybe not at centreback.ollie lyons looks like a very good talent , quick and good defender seen him for the juniors this year and barry noone looked good in the forwards for them too quick too and can score. Smullen is a great man for a goal and very strong maybe needs better discipline. phillips and glavin have got chances before but are playing great football and this could help moorefield get the championship back and mcgeeney give them another shot. |
