PostSubject: Anthony Rainbow's Farewell Game   Wed Oct 06, 2010 10:08 pm

Lads and ladies
Firstly let me introduce myself.
My name is Justin O'Doherty and I am part of the back room team with the senior footballers.
As you know Anthony's last match is taking place on the 20th of November @ 2.00pm in St Conleths Park against a rest of Ireland Team with proceeds going to the Players fund, St John of God, Celbridge & St Brigids Hospice, The Curragh.
Very worthwhile causes I'm sure you'll agree.

We are hoping for a sell out crowd at the match both a show of appreciation to Anthony for his playing career as a Lily and also to raise much needed funds for the charities and players fund.
Having come so close to an All Ireland final this year, we hope to progress even further in 2011, however achieving this requires considerable funding.

We hope that you would lend your support to the above.

If you require tickets or would like to purchase some advertising in the match day programme please contact me at odohertyj@gmail.com.

Thanking you in advance.
Yours in sport

Justin

Justin, can you buy tickets at the gates or is it a pre-paid event. Either way I'll be there.

Also congratulations and many thanks to yourself and the lads on a great year and the efforts you all put in, it is very much appreciated by everyone here.

Hi JME
I am not sure if it is a ticket only event, I would imagine that tickets will be for sale at the gates on the day.
However all players, backroom staff and clubs in the county have been given a number of tickets to try and sell prior to the day, and I would encourage you all to purchase these as soon as you can as it will give us a better idea of attendance figures and monies raised prior to the event.
If you have any further queries I will do my best to answer them.
Also feel free to contact Pat Mangan in relation to advertisement in d match day programme, donations etc, tell him Justin sent ya Smile

I have supplied my email address as I know how important annominity is to some of ye, so feel free to contact me and we can organise some tickets.

Regards
Justin

Peter Canavan, Oisin McConville, Daragh O'Shea, Graham Geraghty, Glen Ryan, and plenty more to come..
I will post more as I hear them...
Also keep listening to KFM for advertisements and updates and start spreading the good word.

Nuxer?

Fantastic. Havent seen him since the early 00's.He should get a huge reception. This is going to be a fantastic occasion for Football in Kildare and I would urge everyone to try and make it.
Not only are you honouring a great footballer in Anthony but your also contrubuting to the players fund for the coming year in our Quest for Sam Maguire.

Is there anything happening in realtion to Club Kildare members Justin?

Hi fionn
Indeed this should be a great day out for all Kildare GAA supporters, and a fitting way for us all to thank Anthony for his contribution to the county team over the years.
It is hard to see anyone throughout the country match his longevity at County level ever again.

I haven't heard of anything planned for Club Kildare members in relation to the match (I assume this is what you mean???) however I will talk to the organisers over the next few days and clarify both this and the happenings of a function after.

Again I would urge you all to support this and purchase your tickets a.s.a.p. and to remember that as well as the proceeds going to the players fund they are also going to St John of God, Celbridge & St Brigids Hospice, The Curragh at both Anthony's and the players request.

Cheers
Justin

Justin

I was at a club meeting last night and noted with interest that the admission to this game is €20.If you read another thread , you will notice that in my opinion , this will not go down well.

Secondly , I noted that my club has been given €4,000 of tickets to sell for the game. Also , the players have to sell some tickets.I have not spoken to any of them this week but I assume that they have been given their fair share.

Our club ( for survival ) has a xmas draw every year and we are now been asked to sell €4,000 of tickets for this game.To me , it's pure madness and this gravy train has to stop soon before either the clubs or the county setup are broke.Given a choice , I want my club to survive.

There are far too many points to put on this thread in relation to this issue.I am currently writing a letter to the appropriate bodies requiring clarification on a number of issues but in the meantime , I want folks to respect that people are struggling financially at the moment and to take this into account when asking them for money in the coming months.

When I left the meeting last night I asked myself

Success but at what price ?

I do not require a reply to the points above but I want your organising committee to note same.

Thanks
